Flooding Pics Part 1

Here's some pics from today. . . I'll explain more about each so check back!!

Cowlitz River at Camelot Fishing Boat Launch from Lions Park.

Kids at 12:30 at CR Fairgrounds - river about 2 feet below parking lot

CR Bridge viewed from fair grounds - water up to the bottom ramp part of walking path on other side.

House on Coal Creek which was raging. (We didn't know that they had closed Coal Creek and blundered on through.)

Top of Delameter at Crimmins Chicken Farm - 1st big section of running water going across roadway which this doesn't really show (and was the easiest of the four we went through). After getting to the house, I decided not to chance it again and decided to wait it out at home because the last one was pretty hairy. We feel so bad for the poor Crimmins and Shuelke families. The heavy snows have destroyed most of their buildings (It looked like the Crimmins had 1 standing barn out of the 4 they used to have.) and now the flooding is going right through their farms. B is friend's with the Shuelke's daughter who said insurance won't cover any of it.

Delameter Creek starting to flood at the little bridge at the bottom of the "ravine" where Hazel Dell Rd. meets Delameter Rd. (This was 8am on the way into school.)

This is the same section at 3pm. The entire valley was completely full of water and it was about to spill over the little bridge.

This is the cow pasture on Delameter where cline meets Delameter - between our house and Bolars at 8am today (1/7/09). Notice the remenants of snow still lingering on the ground....
(sorry it's blurry, I was driving the kids to school and C took snapped the pix out the window)

Same field at 3pm.

More to post later.
I want to watch the news. The radio just announced a bit ago that there is a mandatory evacuation for south Kelso. Everything from the mall (exit 39) down through the industrial area (Foster Farms etc.) - basically down to exit 36. It's bad! REALLY bad! But we're safe, dry, and have power so we're just going to hunker down and ride it out.
